Frank Qiu

Founder & CEO

Frank is a software and technology executive with a successful track record working in entrepreneurial environments to build innovative, new products. He has a proven experience leading and managing diverse, international teams to drive top-line results. He excels in strong management and operational skills, excellent communication, and public speaking.

Prior to co-founding workbenefits.me, Frank was the business leader of an innovative digital archive storage service at Iron Mountain, where he brought the business from concept to market adoption. He led a distributed team at six locations and managed over $10Million budget. He acquired both large and small studios in Hollywood, CA as early customers.

Frank has many friends who are Chief Financial Officers and Human Resources representatives at small businesses, responsible for Human Resources and employee benefits. After leaving Iron Mountain, Frank learned from them how time consuming it can be to manage a back office. With the passion to make the job easier for small businesses so that they could focus on their business development, Frank was the genesis for creating workbenefits.me, the amazing and growing platform that is super easy to use, and fills all the needs small businesses look for in managing their employees.

Jim Barton

Partner and Vice President of Sales

Jim Barton is an accomplished sales and business development executive with over 25 years in the consumer electronics, technology and healthcare industries. In his current role at workbenefits.me Jim oversees sales, marketing, and website development.

Jim has worked for many technology leaders in is career, including a ten-year stint with Bose Corporation, where he managed their custom audio business and worked in business development to construct vendor agreements with a diverse group of companies including Dell Computer, AVAD, Ingram Micro and New Egg.com. Following his time at Bose, Jim served as a Vice President of Strategic Accounts for HMR Weight Management in the human resources and healthcare space and spent time at Leviton Manufacturing developing their smart home business.

Jim has a passion for small business, he started his first business in 1994 as a custom audio designer and installer. His passion for technology and small business eventually led him to workbenefits.me. Ultimately workbenefits.me goal is to provide small businesses with am HR focused productivity tool that allows them to spend significantly less time on the administrative tasks and more time enabling growth and profit.

Sean Rodgers

Senior Human Resources Advisor

Sean Rodgers is an accomplished Human Resources and Operations Executive with over 16 years of experience in Health Care and Manufacturing. In his current role as Director of Human Resources at Metropolitan Cabinet, Sean oversees all HR responsibilities for 150 + employees in all levels of the company; from Sales/Design and office staff, to line and manufacturing employees.

As a Sr. District Manager for HealthCare Services Group, Sean oversaw the operations of over 280 non-exempt and 30 exempt level employees in multiple locations all over the northeast. This is where Sean gathered most his experience in sales, client relations, and employee / HR experiences. In the contract services industry, Sean believes that employee relations are the “back bone” of business, often getting more done with limited people and tools. Operations managers need to lead by example and guide their teams with control and compassion.

At Metropolitan, Sean is the only HR professional on the team and handles everything from employee issues/promotion, benefits and benefits options, Workers’ Comp, Recruitment, Retirement, and Payroll / Attendance. He has contributed to the strength of their current staff as well has increased the staff count by over 50% (56 new employees). Sean has also provided some needed experience/depth with policies and procedures that are often pushed aside as busy companies grow and expand. In this fast paced industry and business, Sean has become a valued member of the executive team and helps to guide the many decisions that are made every day.

Sean attacks his job with a positive and passionate professionalism that is contagious to the people around him.

Jeff Zhang

Chief Technology Officer

Jeff Zhang is a highly experienced software engineer, solution architect, technical product owner, and engineering manager. Jeff has ten years of immersed industry experience and a track record of building complex full-stack software solutions, especially in the distributed service-oriented environment.

Jeff holds a Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Toronto, and a Master’s of Engineering in Computer Science Degree from Cornell University.

In his spare time, Jeff participates several technical groups in the Boston area and contributes to the open source community as a hobby. Other than the technical stuff, Jeff likes playing Texas Holdem both casually with friends, and more immensely at Casinos. He is also very family-oriented and enjoys spending as much time with his family as possible.

Simon Chen

VP of Engineering

Simon Chen is a leading software developer with a passion in execution, quality and ingenuity. Simon has over 10 years of web development experience. A graduate of University of Waterloo with a Computer Science Degree, he enjoys solving difficult problems using software to deliver the maximum value. He is also passionate about applying agile principles and scrum methodologies to produce the best web product. Simon spent 7 years growing from a junior software engineer to a senior project manager at Cimpress (Vistaprint). He is now part of the edX engineering team, leading a team to improve the E-Commerce area of the edX open source eco-system.

Outside of his engineering work, he is also a proven people leader. Simon is a founding member of the Chinese Young Professional Network, a non-profit organization that focuses on helping Chinese professionals adapt to their life in the New England area. He organized and has lead various group events helping Chinese students in the Boston area to make new friends, while enjoying what our fair city has to offer.

Simon has lived all over the world: China, Guam, Toronto, and now Boston. He knows how to make new friends quickly after going to four different elementary schools and four different high schools.

Raymond Lei

Director of Product Development

Raymond is passionate about producing high quality products that help people do their jobs better. With experience in quality control, Raymond knows how to improve product quality while maintaining high development efficiency. He’s now leading a team of software engineers to build the next generation of software that assists manufacturing processes of high-end mass customization products, as a part of a pilot program at Cimpress (previously Vistaprint).

Raymond has been long engaged in community activities outside of work. He helped create a young professional seminar series which brings young professionals together to share experience and learn from each other across industries. Raymond found the unparalleled excitement in snow sports while attending school in New York. That makes Boston’s winter an exciting season for Ray.
